Mission StatementThe Mission of the Tennessee Dangerous Drugs Task Force is to reduce the availability and illegal use of harmful scheduled drugs, including methamphetamine, marijuana, prescription drug diversion, heroin, cocaine, fentanyl, and others, by educating the public about the dangers of all scheduled drugs; by increasing public safety through supplying equipment, training, intelligence, and investigative tools to assist law enforcement and prosecutorial authorities in strategically identifying, targeting, and prosecuting drug offenders; by networking with law enforcement agencies, regulatory agencies, healthcare providers, treatment providers, and local drug coalitions; and by protecting the public and the drug endangered children of Tennessee from the harmful effects of manufacturing, distribution, and illegal use of scheduled drugs.”

What We Do In carrying out its mission the Tennessee Dangerous Drugs Task Force supports programs in four main areas:

Law Enforcement Ð The primary mission of the Task Force is to help law enforcement officers to identify, arrest, and prosecute those who manufacture and distribute illicit drugs and prescription drugs that have been diverted from their intended use for criminal activity. This mission includes providing technical and intelligence assistance in gathering information and evidence for drug crimes, safe dismantling of clanfdestine drug labs, and the safe and proper disposition of a lab. 

Training Ð The Task Force funds Basic Clan Lab Safety Courses and Site Safety Courses for officers in Tennessee, as well as drug diversion, and marijuana eradication training. These courses are administered using expert instructors and are offered at no charge to the officers attending them or to their agency. As a part of this training, the Task Force buys and distributes to each class member all of the equipment needed to process a lab. The Task Force also funds the yearly recertification program for each officer.

Intelligence Ð The Task Force supports officers investigating drug offenders by providing a single resource for meth related offenders, offenses, and other drug related information. It is available to all law enforcement officers at no cost to them or their departments.

Public Awareness Ð We travel throughout the state providing educational and awareness briefings, displays, and material to civic groups, schools, churches, and other organizations. The Drug Display Trailer is commonly seen at these events.
